The Bronson Barber Gallery

In combination with our love of hairdressing and all things beautiful, a little doorway to Art has opened at Bronson Barber in Brunswick Heads. We’re proud to announce the Bronson Art Gallery is now open to the public and local community. We’ll have a selection of local artists on rotation showcasing their incredible and inspiring work.

So, what is the meaning of starting a sentence with the word “so” in current diction. So, my name is Nhoj, predominantly artist amongst other things. My journey began with a passion for art, particularly through the medium of painting at the age of 4, when my mother, an artist, threw a bunch of crayons into my cot and that continues to this day. When asked to describe the style of my art endeavour, I’m often struggle to answer that question as I’m perplexed to be categorized. So (once more) my answer is “A regurgitation of current emotions”. To explain it simply, I paint what I feel and when I place myself in environmental situations that press my emotional buttons which then hopefully triggers and emotional response for the viewer. Colour often defines my work as does humour and more recently to use the power of my medium to deliver a strong message, albeit subtley.

Nhoj’s artistic response stems from his pioneering ventures and a lifetime as an earth warrior and romantic thrill-seeking scallywag. The son of an artist and studying mediums since the age of 12, His works containing the «underlying wisdom of joy» have reached many over his career in business and mixed media.

Nhoj’s arresting array of paintings, rich in colour and textured gloss, are based on subjects from the wonders of the natural world and the adventures he imbibes, on his outback and seafaring journeys, occasionally entertaining the cha cha of his mischievous muse Candy. A painter and instillation artist in a life lived fully as an adventurer, mountaineer, skier, surfer, sailor, desert explorer, farmer, father and raconteur. Nhoj has travelled wide and deep and his paintings reflect the places that have inspired his collection of works. Interpreted with lust for life energy, humour and at times a bombastic boldness. His expression is both vivid and passionate.
